“Football”- one game played all over the world since ages. The game has been a revolution, a ‘Great History’ in itself. It is one such insect spreading the disease through the world. This fever is unstoppable and in the future will surely become a reason to live. It is a game not for money but for passion, love and unflinching loyalty within one’s self. Since ages it has been a way of earning money for the people who consider sports a business. If money was everything then we would never waste our blood and time in such a game for achieving fame, respect and happiness. But instead we would earn them by working hard, both on and off the field. To do any work you need peace of mind and to have a best game (performance), you need a sound body – both, mentally and physically. Football is not all about winning or losing. It is much more than that. The more you play the better you grow.
It is an all-season game and the best time, no doubt, is the rainy season. This is the real tough time to actually test the players’ skills and control over the ball. A right decision will lead you way ahead and the wrong one will always keep you back, too far back, with disappointments that could be overcome by right guidance and true support.
So when we talk of football, there is one name which often arises. A true legend – CRISTIANO RONALDO. An international personality known for supreme control over his head, heart and the ball. A true player whose day starts with football and ends with football. Strength, power, energy, enthusiasm, passion, love, loyalty, style, skills, knowledge – these are the few words that can be used to describe him. A star which you would always wish to see playing live at least once in lifetime.
A young boy, born on 5th Feb 1985, Funchal Madeira, Portugal, in a middle class family with mother Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro (a cook) and father Jose Dinis Aveiro (a municipal gardener). Youngest of four children, Ronaldo started his career at a very tender age, with a vision of creating history that would be written in letters of gold. He started his journey from Sporting Lisbon, made it to Manchester United and at present, is at Real Madrid FC. At the age of 16, his talent and skills were recognized and later he was signed for Manchester United by Sir Alex Ferguson for £12.24 million (€15 million) in 2003. He was now totally exposed to the world. Ronaldo’s excellent performances while at Manchester United gave him the base to build his dream.
By this time he was recognized by the world as one of the best players. His loyalty and determination towards his game earned him accolades like “PFA Player of the year, PFA Young Player of the Year, The Best Player in the World (2008), The European Golden Shoe (2008), the Ballon d’Or (2008), FIFPro Player of the Year, World Soccer Player of the Year, Onze d’Or and the FIFA World Player of the Year. In 2007 and 2008, Ronaldo was named FWA Footballer of the year. Ronaldo was the inaugural winner of the FIFA Puskas Award in 2009. He moved on and was signed by Real Madrid FC (in 2009), one of the best clubs in Spain. He was signed for around 94 million Euros (132 million US dollars). This was a really historic moment as he became ‘The Most Expensive Player’ in football.
His recent performances for Real Madrid FC, with perfect speed, perfect vision and perfect decisions make him ‘THE PERFECT PLAYER ‘. His contribution in the La Liga and Champions League was remarkable. He played for his home country (Portugal) as captain and took his team a long way. His role as a beacon of light, guiding his teammates in the proper direction, made them successful in reaching the semi finals at the Euros. It was just the matter of penalty shootouts where Portugal couldn’t make it through. His attitude is not about being the best but bringing up his team to be called as ‘The Best Team’ in the world. He has been involved in many controversies till date, mainly because of the comparison between him and Messi. Well, the performance of these two players was seen recently in La Liga, where Ronaldo proved himself to be the strongest, fastest and the best. It is an appreciable thing that Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t want to get involved in controversies and he himself considers Messi to be one of the best players in world.
Apart from all this, his love and respect for his family, friends and his fans is incredible. His mother plays a very important role in his life. What else can you expect when your mother is your best friend? Well that would be the most precious thing in one’s life. Being a famous personality gives you a lot of responsibilities. But the toughest job is to be a responsible father. Ronaldo has always been the best in all the aspects of his life. Let it be the game of football or his personal life. He lives a luxurious life with respect, love, honor, fame and all the happiness that one could ask for. He is against alcoholism and gets involved in charities and social services. He always tries to get a smile on the ones who are suffering, by donating some amount from his salary. Ronaldo is not only praised for his excellence in his game but also for his services towards humanity. Earning respect is the hardest thing in this world. It comes when you sincerely work on and off the field, no matter the odds, and the day people start respecting you is the day you are born as a ‘Real Human’.
