Three playable characters are focused on in the trailer, or at least in the screenshots of the trailer. Crash Bandicoot features prominently, obviously, but so does Coco Bandicoot. Coco admittedly looks quite a bit different from her earlier appearances, with much whiter hair. The third playable character is a huge surprise, as it appears to be the villainous Doctor Cortex himself. He’s only shown in one fuzzy screenshot, however, so there’s clearly some clarification needed.

With three playable characters shown, it opens up the possibility of Crash Bandicoot 4 having a large roster of playable characters. Three were shown in the trailer, but a fourth was teased in previous leak. A leaked pin of Tawna shows that Tawna also has a new look and could be a big part of the new game. And if Cortex, Tawna, and Coco are all playable, who knows who else could be?

As for the game’s story, there are some interesting hints there, too. One screenshot shows a new mask character, followed by Crash jumping around wearing armor very similar in style to the new mask. Also interesting, but not surprising given Crash Bandicoot 4’s subtitle, is that two settings are featured prominently. There’s a sort of prehistoric jungle of sorts, as well as a futuristic city. Time travel definitely seems like a big feature of the game.

Then there’s Crash Bandicoot 4’s release date. A screenshot of the trailer’s title card is shown showing a release date of October 9, 2020. This release date could change, but if the trailer is accurate then there’s no reason not to believe it.

Crash Bandicoot fans are likely to be deluged in new information about Crash Bandicoot 4 just as soon as the game gets officially announced and unveiled. When that reveal will take place isn’t clear, but it can’t be far off. Pay attention to the Summer Game Fest schedule and expect more Crash Bandicoot 4 news soon, perhaps even next week.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is rumored to launch on October 9 for PS4 and Xbox One.
