Speaking to PCGamesN, an Activision representative has confirmed that the company is “evaluating” the possibility of bringing Crash Bandicoot 4 to other platforms at a later date. This means that the Crash Bandicoot 4 release date of October 2 will still likely only apply to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game, but that PC gamers and Switch owners may be able to expect it to come to their platform of choice at some point later on.

Alternatively, it’s possible that Activision is referring to other platforms entirely. While it has mostly ignored Google Stadia, it has recently confirmed that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is coming to Stadia later this year, so maybe the company will bring some of its other games to the platform as well. It may also be looking at bringing Crash Bandicoot 4 to the upcoming PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles instead. There are a lot of possibilities, so fans will just have to stay tuned.
While it is no doubt disappointing for some that Crash Bandicoot 4 is only going to be available on PS4 and Xbox One at launch, many others are grateful that a new Crash game is coming out at all. It’s been over 10 years since the last platforming Crash Bandicoot game, and even longer since the last numbered entry. Crash Bandicoot 4 is ignoring most games in the series as it wants to deliver the level of quality found in the original games, and so really Crash fans haven’t had a truly high quality game for over two decades at this point.
Crash Bandicoot 4 is rumored to have over 100 levels and looks like it will be faithful to the original games while still providing plenty of exciting, innovative gameplay. Fans will find out if it lives up to the hype when it finally launches in just a couple of months time. Here’s hoping Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time also comes to other platforms as well at some point down the line.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time launches on October 2 for PS4 and Xbox One.
