“Smart” headbands are just as popular at this year’s virtual CES, and one model that caught our eye this time around was from Cove.
It uses “proprietary gentle vibrations” behind your eyes to activate the part of your brain that handles emotions. Cove claims that it will reduce your stress levels and lead to a better night’s sleep.
Of course, Cove’s headband is just one of many ways to reduce stress—mediation and Yoga are perhaps the two most popular. The beauty of Cove, however, is that you don’t need to stop what you are doing in order to take advantage. You just need to activate the headband vibrations for 20 minutes per day.
Cove stressed that to take full advantage, consistency is key. You need to use the device every day to build up your stress resilience.
And this isn’t some pseudo-science gimmick. The Cove headband has scientific backing. It is the result of research from experts in numerous brain fields, including neuromodulation, mood disorders, and sleep science. Indeed, studies showed that more than 90 percent of people who used the headband experienced reduced stress and better sleep.
Perhaps the one downside is the price. The Cove headband costs $490. It’s fair to say that mediation is considerably cheaper!
